Faith As A Healing Power

I am disappointed that so many people fall for the tricks of this world. Have we all lost our common sense? Is it possible that the great minds God gave us are sleeping while we mindlessly follow what the people of the world say to do? Do you believe that you must join a gym or a weight loss program to be thin? Yes, those things can be helpful, but you CAN do it on your own. You must believe it.

The same applies to staying healthy. The "Great Physician" has more power than any doctor and it's true that He will work through a doctor to make us well when drastic measures are needed, but do we need all these fancy (and scary) drugs to make us sleep better, keep from being depressed, lower our blood pressure and so on. Have you noticed that many of those drugs end up being recalled for problems? And the side-effects for many of them are more frightening than what they claim to cure.

In my personal experience my mother began using
a hormone patch when she was having trouble with hot flashes. I honestly don't know how much it helped her, but I am relatively sure it contributed to her decline in health. This is only my opinion, but when she was diagnosed with Alzheimers at age 68 I began to do research on the subject. No one in my family had ever had Alzheimers or dementia of any kind. In fact 3 of my 4 grandparents lived into their 90's and died of things like heart attacks, and general old age.

God is the one to ask for guidance and we must rely on the common sense that seems to have left so many people.

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the woman who wanted to be healed "she had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors" (Mark5:26, NIV) and she sought out Jesus and "touched his cloak" (v.27) and "immediately... she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering". How awesome is that? We can not literally touch his cloak, but we can still have faith that he will heal us. It may not be instantaneous like the woman, but having faith in the power of the "Great Physician" can make a big difference.
Jesus's own words to the woman were, "Daughter, your faith has healed you." (v. 34)

Don't think about taking the easy way or quick fix, but do trust that prayer and faith will do as much if not more.

And when you pray for healing or help, remember this:
"He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us."
(Ephesians 3:20)
