"When I am afraid, I will trust in you." This is a beautiful line of scripture to hold onto throughout life.
My son learned this as a memory verse when he was very young in Sunday school, and he remembers it to this day - he's 14.
In Psalm 56 the writer is pleading for God's help against those who are attacking, pursuing, and conspiring. Although his very life is in danger "they watch my steps, eager to take my life" (v. 6) he says, "I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
The ocean photo below is mine. It was taken in Florida at New Smyrna Beach at the end of Flagler Ave. after a hurricane had passed and churned up the water and pulled away most of the beach. That beautiful area, where I lived, was full of destruction. Three hurricanes had tormented us in August and September of 2004, and we (my husband and I) had taken a trip to the coast to view the damage and eat some seafood. The restaurant (Breakers) where we ate was located right on the beach, and just a few days after we ate there it was condemned because of the erosion around it which made it unsafe.
You can't tell in the photo, but there really should have been some beach in the picture. However the beach sand had been pulled out to sea, so the water was coming right up to the grassy area of the houses along the shore. Wooden steps used to walk down to the beach from hotels were hanging in mid-air where sand should have been covering them.
