It's true that when things are going along okay or even good in life, I tend to not open my Bible as often.
I was regularly writing in my journal and referencing verses when I felt a greater need for God's help in my life.
I still talk with God daily and pray continually in all situations- for my son when he leaves for school each day, for direction in my life and for financial security and much more. Lately I am praying for the next leader of our country too. But the urgent need for an answer to prayer is not there since I've become settled in my new house. It was my big need, and God provided.
Now I find myself more content and facing smaller, everyday problems, which I know God can help with, but the desperateness is gone.
It leads me to realize that what I've been thinking all along is somewhat true. That those of us facing huge dilemmas in life will find a special relationship with the Lord. Until, or unless, we are faced with extreme situations it's tough to explore the depth of who God is. For these hard times we must be grateful because the situation is meant to help us grow closer to knowing our Father. Peace, because of faith in our mighty King, should come, no matter what is happening. If it doesn't, then you have missed the lesson.
But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked." Isaiah 58: 20 & 21
